Becoming the Good News

Dear friends and readers,

My new book, Becoming the Good News: A New Approach to Parish Evangelization has been published! It’s available for purchase on Liturgical Press’s website, Amazon.com, and Barnes and Noble.

If you like my writing, I think you will enjoy this book. Although it’s written with a particular audience in mind, it draws on the wisdom of many spiritual masters to illustrate its approach. I hope that everyone will find it accessible, nourishing, and inspiring.

Special thanks to Mary Stommes, Peter Dwyer, and John Kyler at Liturgical Press for the opportunity and affirmation to write this book, to Fr. Mike Hawken, Fr. Paul Turner, John Kraus, and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Church of the Nativity communities for the inspiration to write it, to my wife for the constant support, and to my sweet boys for giving me space to write when I needed it (over a whirlwind three months of inspiration). I am so grateful to those who read and offered feedback, especially Fr. Pat Rush and Biagio Mazza, and those who graciously read and endorsed it, like Michael Centore of Today’s American Catholic. And the book is dedicated to my parents, John and Sally, who have never stopped encouraging me to write.

And, most importantly, thanks be to God and the Spirit, who always showed up when I sat down to write (albeit some days the divine presence was more hidden than usual).

There are a few more writing projects I’ve been working on, plus beginning to outline another book that I’m excited to start researching. My “regular” writing on this website has become a bit irregular, but I’m grateful to be able to reach a wider audience through this book and my writing in Give Us This Day. This feels like a big milestone for me and I’m just humbled and grateful to be able to watch it all unfold. I’m excited for what’s next!

Many thanks to all,

Michael
